The Engineer is primary responsible to maintain the mechanical propulsion systems of a vessel, including the engines, pumps, boilers and generators. Additional responsibilities include maintaining electrical, refrigeration, ventilation, heating and cooling systems. The Engineer directly reports to the Nautical Manager.

TASKS

  • Operating, repairing and maintaining and test the various systems aboard a ship, such as engines, electric motors, pumps, heating, ventilation, water and sewerage systems and other mechanical electrical equipment
  • Refuelling, install and starting the engines and regulating engine speed and power in accordance with directions
  • Looking after systems such as fuel, oil, refrigeration and fresh water

REQUIREMENTS

  • At least three or four years of river ship experience in a comparable position
  • Experience on river cruise shipsKnowledge of machine operation and maintenance, safety rules and engineering
  • Good English or German speaking skills
  • Problem solving skillsHard worker
