The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for the development and execution of tactical goals and strategies for their departmental areas within Information Technology.  They perform independently, and proactively collaborate internally and externally in the delivery of high quality technical products.  Leads others, either directly or indirectly, and is accountable for the results of the team.

  • Manages global staff within IT of 10-30 Quality Assurance direct reports (employees, contractors, offshore staff); leads, mentors and influences others on complex projects and assignments.
  • Direct the global Quality Assurance sourcing efforts by appointing, acquiring, and approving the assignment of resources.   
  • Manages development and execution of Quality Assurance goals and department strategies to cover multiple Information Technology products and disciplines.
  • Facilitates design and development of Quality Assurance solutions which further specific enterprise Information Technology strategies.
  • Collaborates with internal and external constituents, including vendors, to meet common goals and resolve conflicting issues.
  • Applies subject matter expertise in the execution of assigned operational responsibilities; remains current with industry trends.
  • Establishes repeatable processes and best practices; ensures department processes comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Interprets, refines and applies Quality Assurance methods and procedures in accordance with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Information Technology industry standards and best practices as defined by Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Creates and manages budget for own operating group and/or projects under their supervision
  • Solid understanding of accounting rules for expense and capital activities
  • Ensures efficient utilization of staff and non-labor resources.  Responsible for defining optimization opportunities to manage expenses
  • Solid understanding of IT estimation activities
  • Accountable for financial implications and cost of systems and services

Requirements:

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in area of specialty, or equivalent experience 
  • 5-7 years of experience in the field or in a related area (i.e. Software Quality Assurance procedures throughout the Software Development Life Cycle)
  • Proven experience in leading and developing Quality Assurance professionals and project teams. Develop and manage quality assurance metrics for performance improvement of all teams.
  • Proficient with methodologies, tools, best practices and processes within specific technology area and Quality Assurance
  • Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers and management. Accepts accountability and manages execution of individual and team results
  • Demonstrates a wide degree of creativity with strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Implements ongoing quality improvement processes working with interdepartmental teams.
  • Requires up to 40% of international travel for supporting Global Markets and teams
