Cruise Director

JOB PURPOSE

The Cruise Director is the biggest guest ambassador, in charge of creating and managing the team that delivers award-winning onboard experiences, engaging activities, shows and industry-leading programmes for our valued guests of all ages.

The Cruise Director manages the communications on board, leading the Entertainment department, representing the highest standards, as our 'Cruise Director' you must be impeccably presented & motivated, at all times.

Our contemporary ships not only have the biggest most beautiful theatres at sea, but they also have amazing guest areas fulfilled by our incredible entertainment department.

Everything from Water Parks with VR slides & Flumes to incredible Live Music, Theatre shows, Guest Acts, Parties, Interactive events and, of course, our award-winning Youth programme.

You will work with our valued partners such as Chicco©, MasterChef© & Lego© to help create our varied and entertaining programme of events.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• High organisational skills, you have complete overwatch on the MSC entertainment policies procedures in a department with up to two hundred team members.
• You are responsible for the quality of all guest entertainment activities, youth programmes/clubs, both live and digital inside and outside the ship.
• The Cruise Director works with the Hotel Manager and On Board Revenue Team to meet/exceed established revenue, satisfaction, and standards objectives.
• The Cruise Director is the public face of the ship, the voice and image of our organisation in the most public position. You will be responsible for all guest touchpoints, embarkation, disembarkation announcements, stage presentations, daily programmes, internal television channels and general socialising onboard.
• Awareness of the market, competitors and industry trends are an advantage and form part of your voice within the greater organization. You will have a direct line to our HQ team and the capacity to make a difference.
• Understanding of the latest technology in the Entertainment, Leisure, Wellbeing & Media world, our ships are at the cutting-edge of technology and have the most advanced equipment available to wow our guests: your role is to ensure the potential of all investment is reached and that all events are presented in a safe and proper way.
• You will work closely with our technical team to ensure all equipment, technology and procedures are followed to ensure the safety of our guests and crew using them.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven organizational and leadership skills.
• Successful background as a presenter (on stage or other visual media).
• Working understanding of computer programs (Windows-based, Word, Excel, and page design).
• Wide knowledge of indoor & outdoor sports and games as applied to the Cruise Industry.
• Ability to train, re-train and coach managers, supervisors and team members.
• Geographic knowledge of the area operated by our ships.
• Above-average skills to heighten the experience of our cruises for our guests and crew.
• Knowledge of similar competitive products in the Cruise industry.
• High degree of oral and written communication.
• Charisma, Performance skills and or background in the industry.
