Title: IT Officer (All HAL Vessels)
Department: Hotel Department - Shipboard
Reports To: Senior VP of Fleet IT, IT Superintendent, Corporate ITO
Stripes: 2-2 1/2 stripes

Major Responsibilities:

The IT Officer effectively manages and maintains all IT shipboard systems and equipment , follows procedures and set targets with focus on providing support on all Information Technology related matters to users on board the vessel, as well as providing general support of specific systems and procedural activities in all departments onboard the vessel.
IT Officer is responsible for running regular checks on network and data security to be up to highest company’s standard, works on identifying and acting on opportunities to improve and upgrade software and systems onboard.

IT Related Responsibilities

  1. Follow HESS policies and procedures provided by shore side Fleet IT, Ships management and the Company
  2. Support for all software applications on board.
  3. Work with Corporate ITO and IT Superintendent to plan, facilitate, and deploy software/hardware projects and upgrades.
  4. Responsible for receiving, tracking and off-loading all IT related equipment on and off the vessel.
  5. Daily, Weekly, Monthly checklist tasks to be completed as per shoreside instructions.
  6. Weekly status reporting back to SVP of Fleet IT, vessel Superintendent, Corporate ITO and onboard manager
  7. Document hand-over reports to in-coming IT Officer’s.
  8. Set-up, set-down, and troubleshoot of embarkation check-in workstations and equipment.
  9. Routine repairs and maintenance of hardware where possible
  10. Deploy Change Management Procedures for patches and upgrades to software applications.
  11. Communicates improvement strategies with shipboard and shore side management.
  12. Communicates with shore side management to make them aware of technology and/or training issues that affect overall operations.
  13. Considers performance improvement recommendations in an effort to improve and develop skills to further their career.
  14. Follows and adheres to all Fleet Regulations related to health and safety procedures, training and requirements.
  15. Leads by example in matters of professionalism, ethics, responsibility, integrity, ownership, engagement and personal presentation.
  16. Fulfills emergency duty as assigned in the Ships Mustering System; Ensures to attend applicable trainings in a timely manner and educates him/herself on any written communication in order to execute this emergency function efficiently.

    1. Reporting monthly asset counts
    2. Tracking of inventory of that is received to its destination
    3. Replacement of damaged IT equipment
    4. Maintaining sufficient spare inventory and parts
  20. Support for all systems below:
    1. Network infrastructure
    2. VMware virtual infrastructure
    3. Backup Systems
    4. Satellite infrastructure
    5. CCTV Systems
    6. IPTV Systems
    7. Printers and Scanners
    8. Internet Café (iCafe) systems
    9. Specialized Marine, Technical & Hotel Department systems
  21. Support for all software applications on board such as:
    1. Microsoft Windows Operating Systems (Desktop and Server)
    2. Microsoft Software updates for Server OS, Desktop OS and applications
    3. Microsoft Server Services: Active Directory, File Server, Print Server
    4. Microsoft Device Management – SCCM
    5. Mobile Device Management - AirWatch
    6. Microsoft Windows Office - Excel, Word, Outlook etc.
    7. Unix and Linux based systems
    8. Ships Property Management System (SPMS) – Fidelio Cruise and other sub-systems within Fidelio
    9. Point-of-Sale System – Micros/Symphony
    10. Key-card door systems – VING
    11. On board Crew Management, Timekeeper and Payroll Applications – MAPS and Fidelio Payroll
    12. Electronic Mobile Mustering System
