Description
The 1st Ventilation Officer is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the ship’s HVAC equipment, systems, domestic refrigeration plan, and technical space ventilation.
Key Responsibilities
1. Performs routine and preventive maintenance on heating / air-conditioning / refrigeration equipment and systems (Equipment and systems include, but not limited to: Provision compressors, stand-alone cooling units, main AC system, cold rooms, walkins, ice cube makers, under counter units).
2. Requests equipment and supplies to ensure all systems under his supervision remain in a safe, economic and environmental sound working condition.
3. Inspects /Tests refrigeration’s systems and their components to ensure safe, economic and an environmental friendly operation. Performs diagnosis and troubleshooting on air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
4. Ensure assigned equipment and systems are maintained and operated in accordance with the applicable regulations.
5. Shall personally inspect the cleanliness and safety of the galley, laundry, and launderette exhaust ducts, and ensure that all required and necessary cleaning routines and records are properly executed.
6. Assist the Staff Engineer Officer with the Hotel maintenance as needed.
7. Responsible for monitoring the consumption of refrigerants closely and raise the alert if an irregular situation is found.
8. Delegate and distribute work for assigned crew.
9. Ensure that crew under their supervision are properly trained and have been given guidance on completing new tasks.
10. Work closely with other departments when scheduling maintenance work on the HVAC plant in order to minimize impact to guests and crew.
11. Responsible for filling out assigned logs and reports in a timely manner.
12. To be familiar with and execute the Seabourn HESS-MS appropriate to their position.
13. Other duties as assigned by the Staff Engineer Officer.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Education:
Completed technical college level education as HVACR or equivalent.
Experience:
5-7 years of experience on deep sea trade vessels preferred Experience as an Electrician preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
EPA - Refrigeration Certificate
Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (STCW Regulation VI/2) (Valid 5 yrs)
Security Awareness (STCW Section A-VI/6)
Basic Safety Training (STCW Section A-VI/1-4)
Safety Familiarization and Crowd Management (STCW A-V/3)
STCW Certificates
