Job Description: Light Technician

A well-known cruise line is seeking a Light Technician to join the team. You will be responsible for programming, operating, and maintaining the lighting, show control, and fog/haze systems in various entertainment venues aboard the ship for different events and activities.

Responsibilities:

Program, operate, and maintain lighting, show control, and haze/low fog systems for rehearsals, shows, special events, and group functions.
Meet with guest entertainers and groups to discuss lighting needs for upcoming activities.
Assist in setting up, positioning, and striking effects lighting for events and activities.
Ensure regular maintenance procedures are followed as per AMOS schedule.
Maintain a 3-month stock of spare lamps, haze/fog fluids, gels, and consumables.
Replace blown lamps, check and replace gels, and replenish fog fluids and CO2 tanks as necessary.
Maintain the artistic standards and intentions of the Producer, Director, and Technical Designer for production shows.
Report any lighting, show control, or system issues to the head sound and light technician.
Document changes to the lighting rig and update the lighting plot as needed.
Send email correspondence using the ship's Lotus Notes accounts and copy relevant parties.
Consult with the shoreside Fleet Technical Operations Specialist before major sound or lighting projects or purchases.
Attend required trainings and meetings.
Provide handover to the incoming Technician at the end of the contract and prepare hand-over notes.
Ensure all non-essential equipment is powered off when not in use.


Requirements:

Experience with hands-on programming and operation of live performance lighting.
Experience with maintenance of conventional and intelligent lighting fixtures.
Musical theater and experience with show control systems (Richmond Sound Design preferred).
Proficiency with lighting control consoles such as ETC, Wholehog II/III, Wholehog PC, and Martin Lightjockey.
Knowledge of DMX controlled scrollers, ETC Sensor dimming systems, follow spotlights, and haze/fog systems.
Ability to troubleshoot and perform basic maintenance on lighting equipment and systems.
Ability to work well in a team environment with technicians and entertainers.
Technical school education preferred.
Strong communication skills in English (additional languages such as Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, French, or German are a plus).
Ability to read and interpret equipment manuals, technical procedures, and rules.
