The Senior Fitness & Wellness Instructor’s primary responsibility is to manage all aspects of the Fitness Center and Fitness & Wellness Program to promote health and fitness activities for all Residents and Guests (R&G). This position develops a range of fitness and wellness programs for individuals and groups, personalizing sessions according to ability and also includes one-on-one personal training sessions in order to assist Residents to reach their personal fitness goals.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the Fitness Center maintains a fresh and innovative program by creating and developing new personalized fitness and wellness programs for individuals and groups and at varying fitness levels
• Conduct safe and effective classes for Residents & Guests
• Conduct one-on-one personal training sessions for Residents & Guests aimed at progressive program development factoring in each individual’s goals and limitations
• Conduct daily yoga and Pilates classes
• Plan the onboard fitness and wellness program schedule a minimum 21 days ahead, publish a weekly fitness and wellness class schedule tailor made to those Residents & Guests onboard
• Responsible for the continuous development of the onboard product and our commitment to “bringing the destination alive” by creating and delivering events and experiences for Residents and Guests
• Research, plan, promote and guide a wide variety of destination related fitness & wellness outings (such as hiking, biking, walking, kayaking, snorkeling) and other destination related activities in upcoming ports and during Expeditions. Such events should be planned a minimum 121 days ahead in cooperation with the shoreside destination planning team
• Stay abreast of all the latest fitness and wellness trends, incorporate into the onboard program if feasible
• Establish relationships with shoreside high-end fitness clubs and institutions with the aim of bringing third party fitness and wellness specialists and consultants onboard as part of an enhanced fitness and wellness program

Hiring Requirements

• Able to read, write and speak fluently in English
• BA/BS 3–4-year degree in Physical Education (or foreign equivalent) essential
• Certified Personal Trainer, Aerobics Instructor, Pilates Instructor, Pilates Reformer, Yoga Instructor ideally specializing in vinyasa, meditative/Ashtanga and Restorative yoga. Additional fitness & wellness related instructor qualifications preferred
• Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience on a luxury cruise ship, private country club or similar, luxury hotel or resort
• One additional language (German, French, Italian, Spanish) preferred
• Good computer skills to include Word, Excel and Outlook
• Working knowledge of point of sales systems, inventory management systems, Fidelio and computerized reservation systems. Strong administrative and organizational skills
