JOB SUMMARY:
- This position shall carry out the work orders given by the Staff Chief Engineer with regards to the performing diverse duties.
- He/she must be a skilled worker and be able to carry out all kinds of maintenance and repair work.
EDUCATION:
Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred.
CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid Motorman's license
- Completed STCW and social responsibility training
JOB KNOWLEDGE:
- Knowledge of propulsion systems. Knowledge of auxiliary systems such as, hydraulic, water and sewage.
- The Motorman may also stand engine room watches as assigned by superiors, must be STCW certified.
- Under the direction of the Engineer Watch Officer (EWO) and 3rd Engineer in charge of the watch in the machinery space, Motorman shall be responsible for the inspection, operation and testing, as required, of all machinery and equipment under his responsibility.
- Responsible for keeping the EWO and 3rd Engineer advised regarding the material status of the vessel and assigned equipment.
- Recognizes the various engine room alarms and emergency signals.
- Monitors propulsion systems, auxiliary equipment and their operation.
- Selects and uses necessary tools to assist engineers during the machinery maintenance schedule.
- Reports directly to the EWO and 3rd Engineer regarding the material status of the engineering plant.

Language Requirements
Good knowledge of the English language is required.
