POSITION SUMMARY for Cruise Staff:

Under the direction of the Cruise Director and Assistant Cruise Director, the Cruise Staff is responsible for participation and leadership of all assigned activities and events.
In addition to engaging guests in an entertaining manner, responsible for supervision and control of all guests in many of the entertainment-related activities to meet and exceed
guest satisfaction.
In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product

  • The Cruise Staff is responsible for ordering, organizing and maintaining inventories and safe storage of all supplies, equipment, gifts & prizes in all Cruise Staff storage areas, under the supervision of the Assistant Cruise Director.
  • The Cruise Staff is responsible to assist in the corrections, additions, printing and copying of any of the printed material used in the Entertainment Dept., with specific reference to the Freestyle Daily, under the direction of the Cruise Director.
  • It is the responsibility of the Cruise Staff to be accessible to and approachable with the guests at all times. He/She must be capable of being a patient listener while making the guests feel at home.
  • Problem solving and conflict resolution for our guests are the direct responsibility of the Cruise Staff following shipboard guidelines and under the direction of management.
  • Meet & Greet guests upon embarkation and disembarkation.
  • Escort guests to the stateroom if the situation warrants special consideration.
  • Assist with private parties and functions.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Must be familiar with the Safety and Environmental Protection Policy and the SEMS, and carry out the policies and procedures appropriate for his/her position

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two or more years of work experience in a Recreation/Hospitality/Entertainment-related field is preferred. Prior experience in the tourism/travel industry is also preferred.
  • Minimum of one year experience in a similar role in the Service and/or Entertainment industry is required
  • One year or more of entertainment skills such as, but not limited to, ability to sing, dance, clown & circus, MC or host are preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced verbal and written level in at least one other language such as German, Spanish, Russian, French or Italian is required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Micros and Fidelio Cruise is preferred.


EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or foreign equivalent is required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Arts, Recreation, Hospitality or Business is preferred.

RECREATION STAFF

The Recreation Staff will conduct and oversee the operation of any of the following onboard recreational areas: Aqua Park, Bungee, Bowling, Rock Climbing or Sports Courts. They need to ensure a safe and efficient operation and have the ability to deal with adults and children alike. In order to consistently exceed guest expectations and provide the highest levels of product and services, additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned as needed.

  • Ability to host an event or tournament that is relative to their position for up to 100 guests. Needs to have nice clarity and projection of voice and be able to interact well with guests in this format.
  • Be responsible of all equipment used to perform the role. In addition needs to report to the Assistant Cruise Director on a daily basis any equipment malfunctions or problems.
  • Keeps necessary records of equipment use to comply with safety standards.
  • Ensures waivers are signed before guest participates in any organized event on the corresponding Recreation venue. Files away for record purposes and completed waivers during their work period.
  • Places orders of needed equipment through the Assistant Cruise Director in a timely fashion.
  • Understand the use of any personal protective equipment related to the position and use it accordingly for themselves and guests.
  • Observes carefully the operation of events that happen on the corresponding Recreation venue and should any incident occur, report this to the Assistant Cruise Director immediately.
  • Provides feedback daily to the Assistant Cruise Director of events that occurred that may need further attention or guest follow up.
  • At times maybe required to assist with escorting Nickelodeon characters, helping out with Nickelodeon events and will be trained to understand the Nickelodeon brand.
  • Required to attend and contribute where applicable to any departmental or ship meetings.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logicallyrelated to the position.

DIMENSIONS

  • Must be able to provide quality service and be able to enhance the experience for guests on a mega passenger vessel of more than 5,000 guests.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with other colleagues and have an outgoing, friendly personality. Provide support to the team and the needs of the guests.
  • Needs to be familiar with all of the cruise program activities and events that happen around the vessel, not only on the corresponding Recreation venue. Detailed training will be provided for the Aqua Park and Water slides, Rock Climbing and Rappelling, Bowling and Bungee attractions as there will be times when the Reaction Staff will have duties in the other Recreation venues.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of six months experience in a hotel, resort or similar in a customer service position, preferably working with adults and children is required. Having coached or instructed organized sporting events before would be preferred.
  • Intermediate to Advanced ability to read, write and effectively communicate in English is required; and other languages are preferred.


EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or foreign equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an accredited Certification Program in an athletic/recreational discipline from a recognized educational institution is preferred.
