Job Description: Aqua Stage Staff (STAA)

A well-known cruise line is looking for experienced Aqua Stage Staff to join their team. The Aqua Stage Staff (STAA) is responsible for supporting dive shows and underwater activities in the Aqua Theater, as well as acting as a safety diver in the event of an emergency.

Reporting Structure:

Reports directly to the assigned entertainment venue’s Stage Production Manager.
Direct supervisor: Head Stage Staff (who provides daily schedules for duties).


Aqua Show-Related Duties:

Act as a safety diver during Aqua Show emergencies, serving as a communication link between the Aqua Theater Stage Production Manager and Aqua Cast Support Diver.
Assist with the preset and strike of equipment, props, and scenery for Aqua Theater shows and events.
Assemble and disassemble SCUBA gear for underwater duties and ensure it’s inspected by the Aqua Cast Support Diver.
Securely store and maintain SCUBA equipment, and report any damaged or malfunctioning gear.
Perform underwater show tracks during rehearsals and performances, including:
Sharing air with performers
Setting flying points
Calling clears for performer flying or lift movements
Moving props underwater
Communicating via approved hand signals or over comms
Participate in all scheduled rescue training.


Maintenance:

Collaborate with the Aqua Theater Stage Production Manager, Entertainment Rigging Specialist, and venue technicians to maintain props and set pieces as originally designed.
Assist with underwater maintenance and safety inspections.
Report any maintenance needs to the Aqua Theater Stage Production Manager, Head Stage Staff, or Aqua Cast Support Divers.
Ensure all props and set pieces are securely attached and stored to prevent damage in rough seas.


Administrative Duties:

Attend entertainment-related meetings as required.
Update backstage underwater track sheets and provide copies to the Head Stage Staff for archiving.
Comply with all company policies and procedures.


Qualifications:

2-3 years of experience with assembly and disassembly of stage equipment and props.
Background in stage, technical theater, and/or production.
Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred.
Minimum of one full contract served as Technical Stage Staff.
PADI Open Water Diver certification or higher required.


Knowledge and Skills:

Ability to move heavy sets and props underwater independently.
Ability to perform minor theatrical repairs (carpentry, painting).
Stay current with advancements in the entertainment industry.
