HOTEL GENERAL MANAGER

PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • The Hotel General Manager manages the entire Hotel Operation, this includes coordinating and leading the Hotel Department Heads onboard.  It is your duty to be hands on during peak services, to set the standard among your team and to ensure that all crew delivers service, in accordance with China Merchants Viking Cruises’ STAR Service Standard.
  • Together with the ship’s Leadership Team, you are required to coordinate and execute onboard safety/environmental and maintenance procedures.
  • It is your responsibility to create a friendly, crew and guest-oriented service culture to ensure crew and guest satisfaction and repeat business, which in turn, will increase revenue and profitability of the company.

 

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Plan and oversee all onboard events including Entertainment, Shops, Concessionaires, and F&B, ensuring efficient execution and compliance with China Merchants Viking Cruises’ Star Service Standards.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Chef to coordinate cruise-based menu layouts, maintaining high-quality F&B presentations and events.
  • Manage sales and operations of shore excursions, future cruises, and tour dispatches.
  • Ensure vessel cleanliness and order, adhering to Public Health Policies and Procedures.
  • Oversee ship’s finances, including inventories, forecasts, and purchase orders, ensuring cost control and budget adherence.
  • Manage vessel clearance, embarkation, and disembarkation processes.
  • Coordinate vacation planning and internal promotions within the Hotel Department, in collaboration with Department Heads and HR Manager.
  • Provide leadership, interact with guests and crew, and ensure adherence to STAR Service Standards.
  • Work closely with Department Heads for sufficient onboard produce and stock, meeting targets and guest count.
  • Lead and support a multi-cultural team, ensuring crew satisfaction and compliance with labor laws, safety standards, and company policies, including conducting performance reviews and providing necessary training and information.

 

YOUR PROFILE:

  • A required minimum of 5 years plus experience as a Hotel General Manager; shipboard experience is a must.
  • A diploma from an internationally recognized hotel school is required; craft training or equivalent is preferred.
  • Fluent in Mandarin. The ability to speak English is an advantage.
  • Strong administration skills are preferred and must be proficient with PC based databases, spread sheets, and word processing systems; flexible, stress resistant, committed team player.
  • Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality, professional appearance and impeccable hygiene standards are required, with excellent knowledge of all Public Health Policies; team builder with exceptional work ethic, motivational skills and coaching abilities.
  • No obvious tatoos.

  • Implement Standard Operating Procedures & STAR Service Standards within the department.
  • Ensure appropriate appearance and clothing according to the updated Grooming Standards.
