Job Description: Entertainment Technician – Automation

The Automation Technician operates the automated stage rigging system in the main theater for all performances and activities (up to 32 axes of automation). Responsibilities include operating, cleaning, and maintaining the rigging system and assisting with scenery and prop maintenance.

Job Requirements:

Associate Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or 1 year equivalent experience
Theater background and industry knowledge
Ability to multitask, work under pressure, and make quick decisions
Basic knowledge of PC hardware/software maintenance and rigging systems
Comfortable working at heights up to 35ft (10.5m)
Strong communication skills in English
Physical fitness (ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, operate AWP)
Must work up to 10 hours/day, 7 days a week on 6-8 month contracts, with up to 2 months unpaid leave between contracts
Provide guest interaction when needed
Follow shipboard safety and operational guidelines

Job Responsibilities:

Perform show load-ins, pre-show checks, and rigging system inspections
Operate automated systems during shows following cue sheets and safety protocols
Clean and maintain stage rigging, including LED screens, cables, and turntables
Assist the Floor Technician with repairs and other technical duties
Be available for rehearsals, tech runs, and various show setups
Join the “Tech On Duty” rotation for additional technical support
Assist with audio/video/lighting setups for events and presentations
Respond to issues related to equipment, safety, and guest interaction
Complete all training and provide handover training to incoming staff
Reporting Structure:
Reports to the Entertainment Technical Manager. Follow guidelines set by the Entertainment Director, Ship’s Command, and Entertainment Technical Team.
