Description
The Guarantee Engineer fulfills a supporting role within the shipboard team, supporting the Technical, Nautical and Hotel team in the management of guarantee claims. The Guarantee Engineer maintains close communication and interaction with officers on board, the shipyard team both onboard and ashore and the Vessel Manager ashore. The Guarantee Engineer is responsible for the proper population of the shipyard guarantee portal and subsequent follow up with all parties in line with both shipyard and the Company guarantee procedure. This position will evolve in a Second Engineer position upon completion of the guarantee period.

Essential Duties
- Responsible for ensuring defects subject to a warranty claim are promptly reported within the shipyard guarantee portal and all required information is provided.
- Maintains close cooperation with the shipyard guarantee engineer and monitor shipyard response to guarantee claims.
- Ensure shipyard rectification works are carried out in line with vessel specifications and to shipboard team satisfaction.
- Report lessons learned and suggestions for improvement to the New Build team via dedicated platform.
- Coordinates together with shipyard guarantee engineer, shipboard Marine Stores Manager and Company logistics department spare parts deliveries and returns.
- Coordinates together with shipyard guarantee engineer service visits and ensure work is carried out up to Company standards and service reports are received and filed.
- Ensures all works carried out by ship staff and any spare part taken from ship stock to repair defects under guarantee are properly recorded and submitted to the yard for approval and/or reimbursement.
- Ensures all guarantee related defects, works and spares or consumables stock movements are recorded in the planned maintenance system.
- Ensure claims are closed promptly upon rectification by shipyard.
- Organize and facilitate monthly and quarterly guarantee meetings with ship staff, shipyard personnel and Vessel Manager.
- Build periodic report on guarantee claims progress and escalates any claim related issues to Shipboard HOD and/or Vessel Manager.
Qualifications
- Valid Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) and flag certification for the duration of the contract and appropriate to position
- STCW Engineer Officer of the Watch License (motor) unlimited
- Previous experience as cruise vessel Watchkeeping Engineer, previous shipbuilding experience preferred
- Excellent command of the English Language
- Exceptional knowledge of modern luxury shipboard equipment, systems, and operations
- Knowledge of Word excel and Project management software
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The Lady or Gentleman must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- All Yacht Ladies and Gentlemen must be able to communicate in the English language in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
