The Sound and Light Technician is part of the onboard Entertainment team to deliver premium Sound and Light experiences to guests onboard. Following company's policies and procedures the Sound and Light Technician oversees all aspects of the technical and operational quality of all LES systems in the lounges and bars where guest entertainment takes place.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures the appropriate setup of Sound and Light for all daily live entertainment, local entertainment events, lectures, meeting spaces and Background Music
  • Performs regular technical checks, preventative maintenance and ensures that dedicated spaces for Sound and Light equipment are clean and organized while maintaining a safe working environment
  • Creates and monitors maintenance requests for non-functional equipment and any other topics affecting the Entertainment operation and ensures problems are resolved in an acceptable timeframe and escalates delays to the supervisor. Acts as the guest liaison on all sound, light and AV technical requests and coordination
  • Maintains exceptional cleanliness, and tidiness of the Sound and Light booths as well as all backstage areas.
  • Setup and strike the band/s as required
  • Liaise with Voyage Director to report any damage or issues with the technical functions in any of the lounges or performance areas
  • Manage any other onboard techs who might join the team
  • Lead on sound and light check for all ‘Guest Entertainers’
  • Perform ship’s safety function, including “Port Manning”, as required.

WHAT YOU GET:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 2 year’s experience in a similar role on a ship or other high end venue
  • Ability to operate, program and maintain professional Sound and Light equipment for live entertainment venues including digital and analogue audio consoles. The knowledge to identify the causes of technical problems and suggest effective and creative ways to solve them
  • Proficient in lighting and audio techniques, ability to understand industry rules and regulations, terminology and best practices
  • Ability to communicate professionally and clearly with passengers and fellow crew
  • Ability to perform safety functions and pass a pre-employment medical exam.
  • Fluent in the English language
