AC Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and skilled AC Engineer to join our technical team aboard a luxury cruise ship. The AC Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of all air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems on the vessel, ensuring a comfortable and safe environment for both guests and crew. This is a critical role that contributes directly to the overall guest experience and smooth operation of onboard systems.

Key Responsibilities:

- Manage and maintain the ship's HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems, including chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, and ductwork.
- Oversee the operation, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigeration systems in various areas, including galleys, food storage, and passenger spaces.
- Ensure optimal performance and efficiency of all AC and ventilation systems to maintain a comfortable climate in guest cabins, public areas, and crew quarters.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance of all AC and refrigeration systems to avoid breakdowns or service disruptions.
- Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to HVAC and refrigeration equipment in a timely manner, minimizing the impact on guest comfort and ship operations.
- Monitor and control the energy consumption of HVAC systems, ensuring energy-efficient operations while maintaining climate control standards.
- Work closely with the Chief Engineer and other technical departments to ensure the proper functioning of systems throughout the vessel.
- Maintain up-to-date records of maintenance activities, repairs, and system performance in line with company and regulatory standards.
- Ensure all AC and refrigeration equipment is compliant with safety regulations and environmental standards, including F-gas regulations.
- Order and manage spare parts and consumables necessary for the maintenance and repair of HVAC and refrigeration systems.
- Participate in safety drills and emergency response teams as required, ensuring preparedness for any technical issues involving AC and refrigeration systems.

Qualifications:

- Degree or certification in HVAC engineering, refrigeration, or a related technical field.
- Valid STCW certification.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working with HVAC and refrigeration systems on cruise ships.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC, ventilation, and refrigeration systems, including their operation, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues quickly and efficiently in high-pressure environments.
- Familiarity with energy management and environmental regulations related to HVAC systems, including F-gas regulations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Proficiency in English;
- Willingness to work on rotation aboard the vessel for extended periods.
