YOUR ROLE:

The Assistant Housekeeper is to assist the Executive Housekeeper in the safe and efficient organization and operation for the Housekeeping department.

 

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervises and monitors the execution of the work schedule as set by the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Assists the Executive Housekeeper to oversee the daily operations and duties.
  • Assist the Executive Housekeeper is conducting inspections of passenger and crew areas ensuring high standards are maintained.
  • Responsible for ensuring Guest’s complaints and requests are acted on in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Responsible for the organization and supervision for handling and delivery of guest luggage.
  • Ensures proper tracking of uniforms issued to crewmembers.
  • Maintains detailed and correct administration and inventory of items delivered through outside vendors e.g Wheelchairs, Formalwear, Flowers etc..
  • Assists Executive Housekeeper in ensuring all administrative and back of house functions are completed on time, accurately and are maintained to the required standard.
  • Reports to the Executive Housekeeper any guest complaints and feedback and where possible resolves.
  • Daily interaction with guests and provides outstanding customer service and delivery.
  • Responsible for the ordering, distributing and collection of supplies, equipment and any other items necessary to service the Housekeeping department.
  • Maintains a correct and complete inventory of Housekeeping Chemicals in line with COSWOP.
  • Assists the Executive Housekeeper in maintaining an accurate inventory of all Housekeeping materials such as linen, cleaning products, machinery etc. and creates purchase orders as necessary.
  • Assists in managing, training and coaching the Housekeeping/Laundry crew to required company standard.
  • Responsible for the appearance and manner of the housekeeping/laundry crew.
  • Monitors machinery within the Housekeeping and Laundry departments and immediately reports any malfunctioning or damaged equipment.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Prepare appraisals for individuals under their remit in accordance with company policies.
  • Attends passenger functions as required by Head of Department.
  • Partake in inspections, trainings and meetings as required by Head of Department.
  • Ensures that the set standards are kept, and staff members work according to their respective job descriptions.
  • Demonstrate the Saga Values.
  • Provide Exceptional Experiences every day for Guests and Colleagues.

SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Previous experience as Asst. Housekeeper onboard a Cruise ship or 4/5* hotel/resort.
  • Excellent organizational skills and able to juggle several operations in one go.
  • Demonstrated experience in motivating, leading and engaging a diverse workforce to increase synergy and improve productivity.
  • Passionate about people and able to handle guest complaints with a smile!

All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position.
