JOB PURPOSE

As UK Cost Controller, you will play a key role in supporting the expanding activities of the Finance Department of MSC Cruises.


With a keen eye for detail and a problem-solving mindset, the UK Cost Controller position covers a broad remit across controlling, budgeting / forecasting and business analysis activities of both office operations and ship insurance. This role benefits from close collaboration and positive stakeholder relationships with the other members of the Finance Department in the UK, as well as working closely with colleagues based in our European offices in Switzerland, Italy (Sorrento, Naples, Genoa), Malta and elsewhere.


As UK Cost Controller, you will have the opportunity to participate in major systems upgrades, including an upcoming new ERP implementation.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Supports in controlling activities focusing on UK departments expenses (Facilities, Travel & Expenses, Personnel, Legal, Overheads) and insurance, working closely with the local teams and MSC Cruises SA Group Controlling team in Geneva

• Coordinates annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting activities for MSC Cruise Management (UK) Limited for the above costs

• Provides departmental analysis for reporting purposes and working with departmental heads and with MSC Cruise Technical Department teams in Sorrento, to control costs

• Prepares and analyses business cases for out of budget requests, investments, and conducting post investment analysis

• Supports monthly, quarterly and year end closing processes and manage other periodical reporting requirements as required

• Assists in the preparation of analysis, reports and presentations for UK board meetings, quarterly meetings etc

• Works very closely with the Head of Financial Planning and Analysis with ad hoc requests

• Covers for vacations and time off for other Controllers with the periodic reporting of New Builds and Operations

• Assists with the year end audit, liaising with external auditors and internal auditors where appropriate

• Supports systems changes, particularly the upcoming SAP S4 Hana implementation

• Reports the Capital Expenditure (Capex) related to projects approved for the departments under coverage.

QUALIFICATIONS

• CIMA/ACA qualified Accountant (desirable) with knowledge of IFRS

• Experience with financial planning, analysis and control (strongly preferred)

• Ability to operate in a complex, fast moving and dynamic environment and able to adapt to changing circumstances

• Strong networking skills and ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders is essential

• Attention to detail and strong organisational skills, with the ability to work and meet deadlines

• Strong financial systems capabilities (ideally SAP) and proficient in MS Office (especially Excel and Powerpoint)

• Excellent communication skills - verbal and written

• Self-motivated with an ability to work as part of a team

VISA REQUIREMENTS

• Need to have the right to work in the UK and Europe

• Must be UK based (limited European travel required)

Language Requirements

Good knowledge of the English language is required.
