The Barista’s primary responsibility is to make and serve coffee and foods such as sandwiches, muffins or cookies in Fredy’s Deli. The Barista packages coffee blends, makes coffee, explains menu items to Residents and Guests and ensures that they are comfortable and satisfied. This position takes care of the Fredy’s Barista counter operations and owns the coffee program, ensuring Residents and Guests are consistently provided with courteous, engaging, prompt and efficient service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take care of Barista operations primarily at Fredy’s Deli counter
  • Research and develop the coffee program together with F&B Management, while considering the region we are visiting.
  • Ensure proper mise-en-place for the Fredy’s Deli Barista station as well as the Fredy’s Deli display counters (Bakery and Pastry) before opening and mise-en-place is prepared for next service
  • Responsible for the coffee machines, coffee grinders, panini grill and turbo oven operations for take away food items, report any technical issues
  • Ensure table services (taking orders, serving orders) are executed as per Fredy’s Deli SOP
  • Coordinate with culinary team in Deck 5 Galley for all refills for counter operations and culinary corner refrigerator
  • Ensure that all opening/closing checklists are followed and communicated with the Maitre’ D in charge.
  • Prepare revenue reports at the end of each shift and submit to Night Auditor

Hiring Requirements

  • Able to read, write and speak fluently in English
  • Diploma in Hotel Management is preferred
  • Barista course certificate from a Barista Training Institution required
  • Minimum of 1-year relevant experience on a luxury cruise ship, private country club or similar, luxury hotel or resort
  • Experience in counter service, specializing in beverage operations in an upmarket Barista outlet
  • One additional language (German, French, Italian, Spanish) preferred
  • Basic computer skills to operate MS Office program
  • Good planning and organizational skills
  • Outgoing personality and good sense of humour to converse with Residents and Guests
  • Working knowledge of point of sales systems (Infogenesis), inventory management systems (MMS) preferred
