YOUR ROLE:
The Light Technician is responsible for ensuring the most memorable entertainment experience is delivered to all guests by delivering a friendly, courteous and professional service.
He/she is responsible in setting up and running the lighting boards in the main theatre and multiple Entertainment venues around the ship. They assist with operating equipment for the evening’s Entertainment, as well as helping with daily shows, lectures and activities.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Assist the Stage Manager with operating equipment for the daytime and evening’s Entertainment.
• Maintain strict safety standards, facilitate requests and ensure the lighting boards are fully maintained.
• Inspect all lighting equipment and track inventory in order to ensure that all supplies and equipment are available for each show.
• Operate the main theatre lighting and laser systems, atmospheric and pyrotechnic effects for all shows and activities.
• Responsible for the maintenance, repair and upkeep of all lighting systems in the main theatre and around the ship.
• Inspect lighting systems periodically and perform regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure proper functioning.
• Assist with additional multiple show setups, rehearsals and tech runs during cast change.
• Ensure proper and thorough training on all job‐related aspects to the incoming replacement technician during the handover period.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITES:
• Perform theatre general cleaning and repairs, in addition to lighting maintenance.
• Attend any safety, hospitality or job‐related training as required and scheduled by the ship’s command or immediate supervisors, including port‐manning rotation.
• Basic knowledge of operating Pyrotechnics is a bonus, but not essential.
• Demonstrate the Saga Values.
• Provide Exceptional Experiences every day for Guests and Colleagues

 

SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Previous experience within a similar lighting role onboard a Cruise ship or 4/5 star hotel/resort.
• Basic knowledge of lighting design and programming.
• Passionate about people and able to handle guest complaints with a smile.
• All certificates as required by the STCW code for this position.
• Good command of the English Language
