Recruiting for experienced SAFETY OFFICER for expedition cruise vessel ULTRAMARINE

Embarkation in MARCH 2025

Salary in USD//per month worked - will be informed upon interview!

Contract 3 months on/off

Required: experienced as such, C/O unlimited CoC ( II/2 ) , valid Certificates, good references/recommendations, HLO Certificate

Reporting to: Master/Staff Captain

Main Duties and Responsibilities: 

- participating as Team member in the Shipboard Senior Management Safety inspection described in section

“Fire hazards, fire precautions, fire fighting”

- compiling the ship-specific form SAF96 “Shipboard Senior Management Safety inspection”

- HazOcc report preparation for approval by the Master, including:

Incident, Accident, Near Miss, Unsafe Acts and Unsafe Conditions investigation, analysis and evaluation

making recommendations to prevent recurrence and monitoring that any recommendations are acted upon

completion of associated reports using forms SAF11/13/14/15 and Shipsure HazOcc manager and submission

for review to:

(i) the Company’s Marine S&Q and Insurance Departments

(ii) the ship’s SEPPH committee

Deck Department Responsibility 4 “Safety training” for:

- the implementation and conduct of safety trainings following:

Company’s procedures and instructions

the Muster List

the Shipboard Emergency Organization (SEO), if available

Note: The assigned Officer shall have a thorough knowledge of the legislation involved in these matters

- conducting ship induction and training re SEO for all ship's personnel with particular reference to watertight

doors, fire fighting equipment and lifesaving appliances

- appraisal and training of all on board re occupational health and safety procedures including:

the Company’s VMS

the Code of Safe Working Practice (COSWOP)

the Code of Conduct

- maintaining the Muster List up to date, co-ordination and organization of all aspects of the SEO (when

available), including current documentation, distribution and display of relevant information

- Maintain Training as per SHOM Annex G and keep records


Deck Department Responsibility 24 “Mooring stations” for:
- attending mooring stations as instructed by the Staff Captain - supervising crew assigned to mooring stations and ensuring that mooring operations are conducted in accordance with the advice in the Code of Safe Working Practice

Deck Department Responsibility 26 “Communications” for:
- GMDSS communication in case of emergency - GMDSS and radio traffic operations - obtaining information re weather conditions: before the departure of the ship at least every 12 hours when the ship is at sea
