The Role: We seek a talented and experienced IT Communications Officer.

Description Brief: 

The IT Communications Officer is responsible for maintaining and managing all communication systems onboard the cruise ship. This includes ensuring reliable internet connectivity, managing satellite communications, and supporting the ship's internal communication networks. The role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to ensure seamless communication for both crew and passengers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and maintain the ship's communication systems, including satellite, internet, and internal networks.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for communication-related issues.
  • Ensure the security and integrity of communication systems.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support their communication needs.
  • Monitor and manage bandwidth usage to optimize internet performance for passengers and crew.
  • Conduct regular maintenance and updates of communication equipment.
  • Train crew members on the use of communication systems and protocols.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • Experience in managing communication systems, preferably in a maritime environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge of satellite communication systems is a plus.
  • Valid STCW certificates, as required for the position.
  • An amazing team player with a positive attitude to ‘get the job done’.
