This position is a unique combination of two different roles where the incumbent will fill the role of Broadcast Assistant for two months, relieving the Stage & Broadcast Manager for a further two months followed by a two-month vacation.
In the role of Broadcast Assistant you will be responsible for assisting the Stage & Broadcast Manager will all duties and responsibilities related to administering, maintaining and handling all areas of production, film and editing, internal television broadcasts, internal associate communication videos, light and sound staging.
In the role of Stage and Broadcast Manager’s primary you will be responsible for managing and maintaining all areas of audio-video, lights and photo production, film and editing, internal communication videos, and light and sound staging on board the vessel. This position also looks after all the technical aspects of live entertainment and the audiovisual content for the onboard TV system.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the setup, operation, and maintenance of sound, lighting, video, and other technical equipment during lectures, presentations, events, shows, and performances across various venues.
- Support the Stage and Broadcast Manager in daily operations, including managing the Broadcast Center and ensuring compliance with copyright regulations.
- Operate and maintain the broadcast studio, portable cameras, and live streaming equipment as required.
- Film, edit, and upload lectures, shows, and performances to the onboard IPTV system.
- Create and maintain video graphics and audiovisual content for onboard productions.
- Provide technical support to Lecturers, onboard Musicians, and other performers.
- Oversee background music operations in public areas, including restaurants, bars, lobbies, and theaters.
- Perform regular inventories of all technical and broadcast equipment, ensuring cleanliness, functionality, and timely repairs.
- Assist with the duplication of media (DVDs, USBs) for Residents and Guests within copyright limitations.
- Support stage and event production, including cable patching, sound and lighting setups, and programming.
- Act as Relief Stage and Broadcast Manager during assigned rotations, ensuring seamless operations and leadership.
Hiring Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Broadcast/Stage Technician, AV Manager, or similar role on an ultra-luxury cruise ship, private club, boutique hotel, or resort.
- Filming and camera operation experience, including studio and on-location filming.
- Proficiency in video editing with software such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
- Experience in live sound mixing and operating sound control units with at least 24 channels.
- Strong knowledge of stage lighting, rigging, cable patching, rack mounting, and programming.
- Familiarity with ship-based broadcast equipment, including satellite tuners and receivers.
- Experience with live broadcasting and IPTV systems.
- Knowledge of band setups and operation of stage equipment, including microphones, sound speakers, video monitors, projectors, and lighting control boards.
- Proficiency in computer systems, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Fluency in English (additional languages such as French, German, Italian, or Spanish preferred).
- High school diploma required; a diploma or certificate in a related field preferred.
- Drone pilot license is a plus.
