The Chief Electrical Engineer’s primary responsibility is to lead the maintenance and operation of the ship's electrical plant and associated systems, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and company standards. This role is critical to maintaining the highest levels of comfort and functionality for Residents, Guests, and Crew onboard.

Key Responsibilities
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of the electrical plant and associated systems, ensuring compliance with technical regulations (e.g., SOLAS, USCG, Class Requirements).
• Lead and supervise the electrical team, promoting maximum efficiency, productivity, and performance.
• Conduct regular inspections and updates for electrical systems, including “as-built” documentation and compliance during renovations and dry docks.
• Plan and forecast for major expenditures, including replacement of obsolete systems and major overhauls, up to five years in advance.
• Operate and maintain high-voltage installations and ensure safety regulations are adhered to.
• Collaborate with the Chief Engineer to develop budgets and ensure expenditures remain within approved limits.
• Approve requisitions for electrical equipment, ensuring compliance with standards and codes.
• Lead risk assessments, prepare work permits, and oversee refit, dry-dock, and repair specifications.
• Ensure the electrical plant is operated and maintained in alignment with company policies and safety regulations, and act as a positive ambassador for Workplace Safety (WPS) and Safe Work Practices (SWP).
• Provide technical guidance, supervision, and training for the electrical staff, conducting performance evaluations and recommending promotions or disciplinary actions as necessary.
• Manage the AMOS maintenance and spare part system for the electrical department, ensuring sufficient inventory of spare parts and consumables onboard.
• Maintain effective communication with all departments to support seamless operation of the ship’s systems.
• Assist with planning, execution, and reporting during emergencies, maneuvers, and drills, ensuring safety measures are followed.

Qualifications and Requirements
• Proven experience in electrical engineering, preferably in the maritime or cruise industry.
• In-depth knowledge of technical regulations, including SOLAS, USCG, and Class Requirements.
• Experience with high-voltage installations, risk assessments, and dry-dock operations.
• Strong leadership skills with the ability to train, mentor, and evaluate team members.
• Familiarity with AMOS maintenance systems, inventory control, and budget management.
• Excellent organizational and communication skills, with a commitment to maintaining safety standards.
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to the demands of a shipboard environment.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive approach to maintenance optimization.
• Diploma from a recognized and approved Maritime Technical College or an Advanced Certificate from Maritime Vocational School or institution, in Marine Electrical Automation Engineering or Electrical Power Engineering or equivalent;
• Certificate of Competency as ETO III/6 and certifications according to the current STCW including the latest Amendments of the Convention
• Excellent communication skills in addition to a strong command of the English language
• Solid computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, etc.
