Sommelier - French Speakers only

We are looking for the energetic and dynamic Sommelier for our French Passenger Vessel - MV Renaissance 

below are the position requirement details:

Main Function : A sommelier is a wine expert that creates wine lists that pair with food menus.Sommeliers create and update wine lists, make recommendations on food and wine
pairings, and advise guests on wines based on their personal tastes.

Position Requirements : 

• Documented and certified in Food Safety where this relates to beverages and bar snacks.
• Basic Safety Training (BST) and all other certification and documentation in force at the time of engagement compliant with the flag state requirements of
the vessel to which you are assigned.
• All other certification (including visas etc.) required and in force at the time of your employment to comply with the Flag State requirements of the ship to
which you are assigned.
• Fluent in oral and written English (working & Safety language of the Company) • Ability to speak, read and write in French.
• Ability to speak, read and write in any major other languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Chinese etc.) is considered a major advantage that
could eventually influence the selection for some positions.

Skills :

• Certification as a sommelier or a degree in hospitality is beneficial.
• Previous experience as a sommelier, wine steward, or in a hospitality role.
• Extensive knowledge on wines and regions of the different types.
• Knowledge of local vineyards and wineries.
• An understanding of the wine making process.
• Available to work long hours
• To satisfy the requirements of the laws of the Flag State of the Ship regarding health and physical requirements, and to have current documentation to
certify that all medical requirements relating to this position are met according to the specific requirements of the job.
• Microsoft Office Suite 2003 and higher (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)  Basic Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 Operating Platform knowledge.
• Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and equipment; ability to prioritize tasks and work independently; strong organizational, interpersonal
and communication skills; ability to interact with senior-level management and owner representatives.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES :

The Sommelier is responsible for the duties listed below to be operated in link
with the respective depts., supervisors, and budgets:
• Assist the Head Sommelier to ensure the food safety compliance in all restaurant outlets.
• Assist the Head Sommelier to ensure that information for the consumer is available (i.e allergens, gluten free)
• Provide professional, friendly, and profitable beverage services in every
beverage and food outlet, giving a service that exceeds the expectations of
guests.
• Assist Creating and updating wine lists with the chefs and manager.
• Making recommendations on food and wine pairings.
• Ensuring that the wine cellar is fully stocked.
• Informing guests on the variety of wines available.
• Training wait staff on available wines.
• Perform wine tasting sessions for guests

• Perform wine service in all food outlets when required.
• Complying with health and safety regulations.
• Assist monitors and controls beverage cost as per budgeted guidelines.
• Maintains cleanliness according to U.S.P.H. standards.
• Utilizes motivation techniques to maximize employee productivity and
satisfaction.
• Assist Head Sommelier maintain a par stock level in the wine pantry.
• Assist with loading.
• Perform wine sessions for waiters and assistant waiters.
• Read and comply with the CFC Standard Procedures Manual©
• Ensure guests are not kept waiting unreasonably for service.
• At all times projects a favorable image of CFC.
• Performs all other duties as requested by supervisor(s)
