We are looking to for passionate Bartender for our French passenger vessel - MV Renaissance
Below are the Job details:
Main Function:
To provide guests with courteous and professional beverage service according to CFC standards. Be responsible for one designated Bar Outlet.
Position Requirements :
• Knowledge of Food Safety where this relates to beverages and bar snacks.
• Basic Safety Training (BST) and all other certification and documentation in force at the time of engagement compliant with the flag state requirements of
the vessel to which you are assigned.
• All other certification (including visas etc.) required and in force at the time of your employment to comply with the Flag State requirements of the ship to
which you are assigned.
• Fluent in oral and written English (working & Safety language of the Company)
• Ability to speak, read and write in French
• Ability to speak, read and write in any major other languages (Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Russian, Chinese etc.) is considered a major advantage that
could eventually influence the selection for some positions.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience as bar waiter / waitress.
• Supported evidence of similar skills in a multinational hotel or similar environment ashore.
• A certificate, diploma or document to certify he/she has a full and professional knowledge, clear and demonstrated understanding and practical knowledge of
bar systems, operations and beverages.
• Demonstrated understanding and practical knowledge of Food Safety as defined in company sanitation manuals.
Skills :
• Sound knowledge of accounting and computerized bar systems.
• Proven ability to implement creative and appealing strategies to generate revenue and profit.
• A sound working knowledge of similar competitive products in the Cruise industry.
• Above average skills in tactful, diplomatic crisis and problem handling
• Demonstrated skills in one-on-one communications with Guests.
• Sound supervisory skills and proven ability to work in a harmonious productive team environment.
• Basic Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 Operating Platform knowledge.
• Knowledge of general office practices, procedures, and equipment; ability to prioritize tasks and work independently; strong organizational, interpersonal
and communication skills.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES :
The Bartender is responsible for the duties listed below to be operated in link with the respective depts., supervisors, and budgets:
• Provides guests with prompt, professional beverage service
• Provides personalized service by greeting guests by name and learning personal preference (i.e. drink preferences)
• Prepares and serves drinks in accordance with company standards and in accordance with
• orders received.
• Takes ownership of the assigned bar and ensures:
1. Opening hours to be respected
2. The lounge and bar assigned is cleaned and ready for service
3. Ensure ambience such as correct lighting and open / close curtains
according to instructions.
4. Ensure background music is always present (exemption when musicians do play, lecture etc)
5. Ensure assigned service staff (Bar waiter and assistant) are dressed
veering the correct uniform effect accordingly to the CFC uniform manual.
6. Ensure TV screens and other systems (DJ) in the bar are switched on. In case not, notify Sound and light tech or Assistant Bar Manager.
• Ensures that all orders are placed in vessel’s POS system before any drink leaves the bar.
• Ensures that signed checks are received and have information necessary to properly post the drinks to the appropriate cabin.
• Cost efficient bar management.
• Maintains bar stock in accordance with CFC standards.
• Inventory control.
• Receives and signs for beverage supplies in accordance with the established par stock for the assigned bar.
• Stores all beverages in a secure and seaworthy manner and always keeps beverages under lock.
• Maintains an awareness of the bar’s inventory and consumption. Alerts Assistant Bar Manager of possible shortages.
• Prepares requisitions with Assistant Bar Manager for items needed to restock bar.
• Maintains bar in a clean and orderly fashion.
• Cleanliness of assigned work areas; pantry, bar, seating area.
• Displays positive service and teamwork by communicating courteously with passengers and employees
• Smiles and greets passengers.
• Fulfills passenger requests or suggests alternatives courteously.
• Demonstrates teamwork when working with other employees.
• Supervision of assigned staff.
• Assists management with training and induction of new personnel.
• Keeps the Bar Manager promptly and fully informed of all problems or unusual matters of significance coming to his/her attention so prompt
corrective action can be taken.
• Performs all duties and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner in accordance with established company policies to achieve the overall objectives
of this position.
• At all times projects a favorable image of the company to promote its aims and objectives and foster and enhance public recognition and acceptance of all its areas and endeavor
• Performs all other duties as requested
• Is requested to comply with the sanitation standards, safety and pollution prevention regulations and operating procedures always.
