POSITION SUMMARY:
- Supervise the daily operation of the laundry facility and ensure that proper chemicals are used and disposed of according to the Approved Chemical List.
- Provides the efficient, day-to-day service and quality of the laundry facilities, ensuring the guest & crew laundry are cleaned and well presented.
- Ensure all laundry equipment is in proper working condition and every employee adheres to the company requirements and guidelines.
- Assign and review the work of laundry personnel engaged in receiving, washing, ironing, and packaging of laundry
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that proper chemicals are used and disposed of according to the Approved Chemical List. Provides efficient day-to-day service and quality of the laundry facilities.
- Ensuring guest & crew uniforms are cleaned and well presented.
- Ensure all laundry equipment is in proper working condition and every employee adheres to the company requirements and guidelines. Assigns and reviews the work of laundry personnel, engaged in receiving, washing, ironing, and packaging of laundry.
- Ensure the needs of the operation are met from a laundry perspective, including but not limited to bed linens ad towels for housekeeping, tablecloths and napkins for Food & Beverage and uniform washing, ironing, and dry cleaning for all crew, staff and officers.
- The Assistant Laundry Manager must have the ability to problem solve any operational issues or guest related situations.
- Coordinates with Laundry Manager, Housekeeping Director and Maintenance Manager to pro-actively maintain equipment as part of a preventative maintenance program, while ensuring any necessary repairs are completed in a timely manner.
- Coordinates with all divisions to ensure proper sorting of the linen before it gets to the laundry. Linen must be free of garbage and sorted by color.
- Assistant Laundry Manager is responsible for recording wash load counts, equipment technical issues and special wash projects daily to assist the Laundry Manager in preparing the daily reports.
- Monitors the wash process, ensure the team are segregating the linen & terry properly and using the correct wash formulas. Ensures all linen and terry are clean and items with stains are separated and washed in stain wash formulas.
- Assistant Laundry Manager will oversee the Linen Room operations and coordinates with Linen keeper for distributing the linen & terry to the deck runners daily.
- Directs, coaches, supports, supervises and evaluates (in conjunction with the Laundry Manager) the performance of all direct reports.
- Ensure that all Laundry team record their working Hours in Kronos and assist in correcting any mistake if necessary.
- Always ensure that public health standards are followed in the Laundry Facilities.
- This position is responsible for cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of records, reports, supplies and equipment.
- Conducts workstation spot checks to ensure items are correctly stored to minimize deterioration and waste.
- Mentors, develops and provides on-the-job training to his/her staff to strengthen their current performance and preparation for future advancement.
- Responsible to maintain Laundry chemical lockers according to company chemical management and environmental regulations.
- To monitor Dispenser station daily, to ensure chemicals pumps are running in good condition, to communicate all the issues with Ecolab technician when he visits the ships for service checks.
- Inspect dryers daily to ensure that they are free of lint and operating within the correct temperature range. Monitor dryer logs.
- To ensure that the Main Laundry and Dry-Cleaning Room equipment is cleaned thoroughly daily and responsible for by-weekly technical spaces cleaning in the Laundry facility.
- Is aware of, and/or acquires the necessary knowledge to comply with the ship’s standard operation, in order to assist guests and crew members with inquiries.
- Attends meetings, training activities, courses and all other work-related activities as required.

HIRING QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum of two (2) years guest facing service experience in a luxury environment.
- Combination of education equivalent to high school diploma or any other source of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Confident, well-groomed appearance with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
- A minimum of three years of related experience and/or training in the laundry field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read and interpret English language documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and use of equipment.
- Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
- Ability to apply customer service skills, according to Company policy, when interacting with guests and coworkers.
- Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred.
- Working knowledge of computers, Internet access, and the ability to navigate within variety software packages such as Excel, Word, and Adobe Page Maker or related programs.
- Completion of high school or GED required; university degree preferred.
- Ability to fulfill the above mentioned Key Responsibilities and all reasonable company requests.
Work Experience Requirements
All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship, in a 4/5* Hotel or in an Upscale Restaurant.
