POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Supervise the daily operation of the laundry facility and ensure that proper chemicals are used and disposed of according to the approved chemical list. The laundry manager is responsible for the overall management of the laundry facilities and laundry personnel and committed to delivering excellent Guest Services.
  • Coordinating with Housekeeping Director & Maintenance Manager for preventative maintenance of laundry equipment ensures any significant maintenance issues are completed on time. All duties and responsibilities are to be performed by following the Company's Safety, Quality and Environmental standards.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Washing, ironing, dry cleaning and storing of all laundry products.
  • Ensures that all equipment is always fully operational and coordinates with the Housekeeping Director / Maintenance Manager to repair equipment in a timely manner.
  • Coordinates with all divisions to ensure proper sorting of the linen before it gets to the laundry. Linen must be free of garbage and sorted by color.
  • Check finished product at the end of each cycle to ensure that the desired result is achieved.
  • Coordinates daily inspection to ensure that all equipment is operating at optimum capacity and that water is at maximum temperature.
  • Ensures that the crew laundry facilities equipment is in good running condition and monitors the cleanliness of the Laundry Facilities.
  • Submit a copy of the Laundry Manager’s Daily Report to the Housekeeping Director and Maintenance Manager, Chief Electrical, Staff Chief Engineer and Travelling Laundry Manger.
  • Coordinate cleaning of non-logo uniforms between the Linen keeper and crewmember (there will be no charge if the item to be cleaned is verified by the Laundry Master as a "bone fide" uniform item).
  • Oversee sorting and washing procedures, Laundry Manager is fully responsible of washing the linen in correct wash programs as per the company policy and procedures.
  • Oversees the setting of formulas and cycles for types of linen and soil.
  • Ensures all Laundry Staff keep working areas and equipment clean and neat.
  • Coordinates all maintenance and repairs of machinery.
  • Checks levels of supplies of all Laundry Chemicals and necessary Laundry supplies.
  • · Understand and apply in work practices environmental policies and procedures concerning such functions as collection, sorting and disposal of solid wastes and use of chemicals associated with cleaning, dry cleaning and laundry operations.
  • Presents overtime needs to Housekeeping Director for final approval.
  • Directs, coaches, supports, supervises and evaluates the performance of all direct reports.
  • To supervise and to establish regular MLC work schedules, training schedule, cleaning schedules.
  • Recognize team member’s skills by designating them to different job assignments of dry cleaning and wet laundry operations
  • To analyze all problems encountered in each stage of production and take preventive measures to prevent occurrence of the same Issues in the future.
  • To keep record of production reports, evaluation reports and guest laundry reports. Make every effort to ensure all linens and towels are returned to the linen room in good condition; properly pressed, clean, free of stains and holes.
  • Oversees the linen room operations and coordinate with linen keeper for HK linen distribution, and ensure linen keeper is counting accurate linen inventories.
  •  Prepare all the laundry daily reports, guest laundry voyage reports & Monthly Guest Laundry Lost / Damaged Reports in timely manner.
  • To adhere and ensure that the Laundry Team complies with all Company Policies and Procedures.
  • To ensure that the proper use of Personal Protective Equipment in the Laundry is implemented always and ensure Safe Lifting Techniques are practiced always in the laundry department.
  • Ensure OPP Plus protocols and public health guidelines are met and followed always.
  • Ensure all the laundry teams are trained and are aware of all safety equipment in the laundry & surroundings including new hired CM’s.
  • To ensure the laundry team is updating the lint filters cleaning logs in timely manner including the general and by weekly cleaning schedules of the laundry facility.
  •  Laundry Manager is overall responsible for quality guest laundry processing and delivering as per the company standards.
  •  Laundry Manager is responsible to schedule the laundry challenge promotion and implement other promotions as needed to generate the revenue in coordination with Housekeeping Director and Revenue Director.
  • · Ensure that all Damage/discarded linen and Terry are recorded and reports to the Housekeeping Director Daily.
  • · Coordinate with Housekeeping Manager for monthly linen and terry inventory.
  • · This position is responsible for cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of records, reports, supplies and equipment.
  • · Conducts workstation spot checks to ensure items are correctly stored to minimize deterioration and waste.
  • · Monitors, observes and evaluates staff and procedures to ensure quality standards and service are met. Makes recommendations regarding personnel actions such as new hire requests and discharges, to ensure adequate and continuous staffing.
  • · Conducts meetings with laundry team daily.
  • · Mentors, develops and provides on-the-job training to his/her staff to strengthen their current performance and preparation for future advancement.

HIRING QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of two (2) years guest facing service experience in a luxury environment.
  • · Combination of education equivalent to high school diploma or any other source of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • · Degree of technical proficiency; the ability to assess methods and procedures, knowledge of equipment and supplies, exercise good judgment on any corrective program and enough skill to determine the essentials and importance of complete department programs.
  • · Confident, well-groomed appearance with a warm and welcoming demeanor.
  • · A minimum of two years of related experience and training in the laundry field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • · Working knowledge of computers, Internet access, and the ability to navigate within a variety of software packages such as Excel, Word, or related Company programs (Issutrax, OCIMS, Fidelio, Kronos, Celebrity App)
  • · Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques, requirements and use of equipment.
  • · Knowledge of proper chemical handling.
  • · Ability to apply customer service skills, according to Company policy, when interacting with guests and coworkers.
  • · Completion of high school or basic education equivalency preferred
  • · Ability to fulfill the above-mentioned Key Responsibilities and all reasonable company requests

Work Experience Requirements

All applicants must have previous experience in working on a Cruise Ship, in a 4/5* Hotel or in an Upscale Restaurant.
