The Company expects each shipboard employee to consistently exemplify the principles of the Standards to all team members. In addition, all duties and responsibilities are to be performed in accordance with ISM/ISO and SQM standards, USPH guidelines, Environmental, and Safety policies.
Each shipboard employee may be required to perform all functions in various service venues and throughout the ship.
1. In accordance with Company policy, each employee conducts oneself in a professional and courteous manner at all times. This consists of physical and verbal interactions with guests or fellow shipboard employees and/or in the presence of guest contact and Crew areas.
2. the Companyplaces the highest value on the environment and all crewmembers shall do the same. This position shall work with supervisors and subordinates to understand and comply with the company's environmental policies and be committed to safeguarding the environment. He/shall direct and immediately inform his/her immediate supervisor if any environmental system does not function properly onboard.
Financial Responsibilities:
- The position is responsible for cost containment through the proper use, handling and maintenance of chemicals, supplies and equipment.
General Responsibilities:
- Request additional manpower as needed (from the Chief Electrician) for repair and maintenance under his responsibility.
- Keep the Chief Electrician verbally informed on a daily basis the status of all areas of responsibility.
- A work report book should be updated daily with more detailed information and kept in the Chief Electrician's office for his reference.
Technical Responsibilities:
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, instruction manuals and schematic diagrams for equipment that has electrical and electronic components.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION
Hiring Requirements:
Any person hired as a 2nd Electrician shall have completed a training course that:
a. Meet the requirements of SOLAS, STCW and other regulations that are applicable aboard to work with low voltage electrical equipment.
b. Provides them with the skills deemed appropriate to work safely and effectively with low voltage electrical equipment
c. Provides them with the skills to operate, maintain and troubleshoot electrical and electronic equipment. It is not adequate to have training or competence only in the installation of electrical and electronic equipment.
d. A person that holds a License as a Ships Deck or Engineering Officer and meets the requirements of a - c above can be hired as a 2nd Electrician.
e. A person that holds a college or university degree or diploma in Electrical Engineering or an ancillary field and meets the requirements of a - c above can be hired as a 2nd Electrician.
f. A training course that provides instruction only in electrical or electronic installation is not acceptable
Retention Requirements:
Within two years of being hired as a 2nd Electrician, must attend and receive a certificate of competency for working with High Voltage (Medium Voltage) Electrical Equipment. For purposes of this document, High Voltage is defined as AC voltages over 1000 VAC RMS or DC voltages over 800 VDC.
LANGUAGE REQUIEREMENTS
- Ability to speak English clearly, distinctly and cordially with guests.
- Ability to read and write English in order to understand and interpret written procedures. This includes the ability to give and receive instructions in written and verbal forms and to effectively present information and respond to questions from guests, supervisors and co-workers.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency life-saving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• While performing the duties of this job, the shipboard employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to touch, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
• Extensive travel from ship to ship with varying accommodations and resting opportunities require good health. Active management of health through diet and exercise is a key for prolonged success in the position
• All shipboard employees must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and drills. Full use and range of arms and legs as well as full visual, verbal and hearing abilities are required to receive and give instructions in the event of an emergency including the lowering of lifeboats. The employee must have the ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
