Description
To assist Crew Manager/Purser in crew related matters aboard the ship and to carry them out in a manner consistent with Seabourn Cruise Line’s high service standards.
The Assistant Crew Manager/Purser is responsible to assist the Crew Manager/Purser in the well being of each crewmember is crucial and in this position the Crew Manager/Purser needs to always have the crewmembers’ best interest at heart. The importance of the position is such that the Crew Manager/Purser should always strive for crew satisfaction the same way everyone else focuses on guest satisfaction. The negative impact this can have by deciding not to help crew will have an impact on the crew and thus subsequently on the guest’ experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintaining onboard cash float, crew accounts, crew phone cards and providing crew currency exchange service.
- Assist Crew Manager/Purser with Immigration and Custom clearance along with Crew Cabin assignments and allocation of Crew Emergency Numbers.
- Holding confidential information
- Accurate and complete administration of crew files including certification, travel documents, personal details, etc.…
- Updating of Crew Loyalty profiles for onboard crew, as per Seabourn Crew Loyalty Program
- Assist with proper signing on and off process for all crew members
- To constantly operate in accordance with ISM safety regulations.
- Assist in ensuring crew passport, visa validity, Seaman’s books, and preparing of necessary documentation for inbound and outbound port clearance for crew.
- To be familiar with the legal aspects of Crew employment, Health and Safety at Work, the company’s HESS.M.S. and Environmental Policies and all other company directives governing the administration of Crew and Port Operations.
- To be familiar with the ship’s safety and security procedures relating to the hotel department in respect of any eventuality.
- To constantly operate in the interests of the owner. To maintain a high standard of personal grooming.
- Assist HRM/Crew Manager/Purser to ensure smooth operation of SPLASH! Planned functions, events and facilities.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise
Education:
- Fluent English, written and spoken.
- Proper skills in accounting and administration
Experience:
- A minimum of one year experience in the Pursers department on board a Seabourn vessel plus appropriate on the job training.
Knowledge,Skills & Abilities:
- Computer knowledge, (Word, Excel, Email)
- Good communication skills. An approachable personality.
Physical & Travel Requirements
Physical Demands:
- For the safety of yourself and others on board certain physical abilities shall be maintained. Must be able to bend, climb, perform repetitive motion, and repetitively heavy lift.
- Must maintain physical fitness to perform tasks associated with job.
- Must be able to work varied shifts, which can average up to 12 hours per day, everyday while on board.
Travel Requirements:
- Passport – valid for a minimum of 6 month Flag state issued seaman book
- General flag state or flag state approved marine fitness medical United States C1/D visa
- English Marlin test at minimal score of 80% Pre-employment medical examination
