Description
Any applicant who successfully completes the Rules of the Road (MIDATL-431) course within one year of application will satisfy the professional examination requirements for original issuance, increase in scope, or renewal of any national officer endorsement up to Master 200 GRT, Master or Mate of Fishing Vessels, and Apprentice Mate (Steersman).
The objective of the course is to instruct in the areas relevant to satisfy company, national, and international regulations as stated in Standards of Training Certification and Watchkeeping tables – A-II/3, Column 1: Maintain a safe navigational watch and Column 2: Thorough knowledge of content, application and intent of the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea for competence in knowledge of the following:
Table A-II/3 Specification of minimum standard of competence for officers in charge of a navigational watch and for masters on ships of less than 500 gross tonnage engaged on near-coastal voyages
