This course fulfils the IMO MSC/Circ.1154 (GUIDELINES ON TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION FOR COMPANY SECURITY OFFICERS) and IMO Model course 3.20 requirements. Course consists of lectures, exercises and presentations on topics that CSO should have undergone, relating to fleet security management elements in compliance with the requirements of the ISPS Code, particularly with regard to:

• Legal background on maritime security
• Ship Security assessment and Security Plan
• Piracy and best Management Practices (Route planning, Reporting, Monitoring)
• Methods of protection and access control (Hardening, Communication, Spares, Food)
• Communication with fleet, shipowners, charterers, security companies, insurance providers

• Emergency preparedness, training, exercises and drills.
