This course fulfils the IMO MSC-MEPC.7/Circ.6 (GUIDANCE ON THE QUALIFICATIONS, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE NECESSARY FOR UNDERTAKING THE ROLE OF THE DESIGNATED PERSON UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF THE INTERNATIONAL SAFETY MANAGEMENT (ISM) CODE). The trainees who successfully complete the course should gain the necessary minimum knowledge for persons undertaking the role of the Designated Person under the provisions of the International Safety Management (ISM) Code and acquire the following competencies:

• Capabilities about appropriate Management Techniques
• Ability to implement and maintain a Safety Management System
• Understanding of the ISM Code and legal framework
• Skills in developing and communicating Safety Culture
